Makeup to Make Green Eyes Pop

If you have green eyes you should be celebrating! Green is a rare eye color, so let's learn how to make them look their best.

And if you don't have green eyes but would love to, you can buy colored contact lenses in shades from light greens to dark greens.

Here are a few tips on how to give those green eyes some flare:

1. Use Red Based Makeup - A good way to bring out the green in your eyes is to use red based makeup. Not a bright red, but something with a bit of a red undertones. Think of raisin-colored eyeliner, plum eye shadow or any darker shade of purple.

2. Use Eyeliner Strategically - If you have close set eyes, use lighter colored eyeliner on the inner corner of your lower water line and draw it out to the middle of your eye. This can make your eyes appear farther apart. Use a dark plum on the outer edge of your eyes to highlight the green color.

If your eyes are droopy, lift them up by using the darker color on the inner corner of your eye and keep the lighter colors on the outer edge.

3. Use Taupe Eye Shadow - A warm taupe shadow with some sparkle will compliment your green eyes and highlight any golden flecks in your irises. Actually any earth tone shadow will work on green eyes. I particularly like the way copper, gold or bronze powder applied just under the brow bone makes green eyes more vibrant.

4. Accentuate Your Lashes - Instead of black mascara try one that's plum-colored. Before you apply the mascara make sure you curl your lashes. For the best mascara results go straight out from your roots and then move the wand with a short side to side motion. Follow up with another swipe straight out from your roots. Complete your mascara by combing your lashes with an eyelash comb to get out any clumps.

So if you've been blessed with gorgeous green eyes, now's the time to show them off. Take some time to perfect these techniques and then let your green eyes sparkle.

I hope this was helpful for all you green eyed people out there. Remember you just have to experiment. Colors and techniques look different on different people, so have fun and find what works best for you!
