Jarrow Conjugated Linoleic Acid / CLA

Jarrow CLA provides a way for someone to get ample Conjugated Linoleic Acid in their diet if they do not eat ample red meat, dairy, or oils.

Jarrow Conjugated Linoleic Acid Studies have touted how wonderful CLA is in conjunction with weight loss. It's probably fair to say that we all know that healthy oils, for example fish oils, are key to a healthy metabolism. So it makes sense that having oils in your daily diet will help your body to be healthy.

In nature, CLA comes from grass fed meat, eggs, dairy, and safflower oil. So whether you need to supplement with something like this depends on your diet.

We received a review portion from Amazon Vine; however, the one bottle, at 90 pills, would not be ample for testing. You need to take 4-5 of these pills a day to meet the amount used in the studies, and results are only seen after 45 days. So we acquired more bottles in order to do a proper test.

Note that the gelcaps provided here only have about an 80% absorption rate, so you can't look at what is provided in each one and assume you're getting 100% of that value.

We took four a day, two in the morning, two in the late afternoon, for two months. We did not have any negative effects. We did not experience the digestive issues that some others report. On the other hand, we didn't notice a difference in weight loss or gain. It could be that since we already eat a diet rich in healthy meats, dairy, and we use safflower oil in our daily home, that we already get adequate amounts of CLA for our body to do what it needs to do. It could also be that the CLA simply isn't affecting our particular body make-up and metabolism.

I think in general I would say that it's important to eat healthy foods, in a balanced way, and that it's best to get as much as you can from natural sources. But if for some reason you aren't eating meat and dairy, and you aren't using enough safflower oil to get CLAs into you, that it'd be worth your time to look into trying this. Just make sure you take the full four or more a day and that you test it for a full two months before you make any decisions about it.

We received samples from the Amazon Vine Program for testing.
