Magazine Review-CoffeeHouse Digest

CoffeeHouse Digest is a publication dedicated to coffee and tea lovers. It is a nationally distributed coffee house lifestyle magazine. As per their mission statement, CoffeeHouse Digest is aiming for “Jolting java-holics out of their wi-fi stare with eco-features and trends in gadgets…” Their hope is that this “will keep CoffeeHouse Digest on coffee tables nation-wide!”

Who is reading CoffeeHouse Digest? According to the magazines own survey, “the top age group(s) of our readership is 30 to 50 (with 20- to 29-year-olds a close second). They are college graduates and earn an average of $75k per year; 30% of this group are business owners.”

CoffeeHouse Digest is available in print and online. What I love about the online version is that it not only has a lot of interesting content, it also has all of the technology bells and whistles complete with page turning sounds so you won’t miss turning your pages by hand. And also something you can’t get in any print magazine—video clips. At least not yet, but I’m sure that technology is not far behind. There are also links to take you anywhere in the magazine and beyond that you would like to go.

There is something for everyone here, including a crossword puzzle called Java Jabberwocky. There are contests, information about events, technology, food, and, of course, coffee and tea. If you wanted to know about the latest GPS system, not for cars but for runners, you’d find it here in the October issue.

My personal favorite was Transcendental Treadmill, an article by Sandy Steers. It focused on the idea of combining meditation and exercise, two things that are difficult to schedule and how they can possibly enhance one another.

I am looking forward to the November-December issue. Here’s a preview of what’s to come:

PERCOLATIONS -- Frozen Coffee Drink Alternatives
THE GRIND -- Get that Promotion
BLOGOPHILE -- Online Crime
WIRED UP -- Harmony Remote
SPILLING THE BEANS -- Tinnitus and the iPod
