Brief History: Sharon Linder founded Get Janes out her family experience dealing with cancer and the many indignities that go along with numerous doctor's appointments and treatments. Sharon felt there was a need for a better patient gown and her "Janes" (the feminine to the Johnny gowns) were born. Get Janes has been providing their gowns to health care centers for a few years but have recently started offering their patient gowns to consumers via the internet. They currently offer sizes 8 to 4x and ships within the United States.
Product: Janes Patient Gown (also called doctor’s, hospital, or treatment gown).
Description: 60% cotton, 40% spandex. They are available in sizes small 8 to 4x.
Packaging: Wrapped in tissue and shipped in sturdy container.
Price: $32 (decreases if you buy in bulk for your friends and family i.e. 10 gowns $28 each, 50 gowns $24 each etc.)
Immediate impressions: From the moment I opened the Get Janes package I felt that they cared about their product.
Comments: There are no minimum or maximum shipping costs listed on the website but their FAQ it says they are based on weight for shipments in the U.S. There is no information on international shipping.
Satisfaction: High. I love that the gown is affordable and has an excellent size range (hopefully in the future they will add a specialty size for 5x to 8x). It provides a generous fit and coverage -- not being too short and covering arms to elbows. I had a gaping issue with the neckline which I fixed by folding it over like a shawl collar but really minor (Update: I'm told they are hoping to fix this in the future by attaching the ties higher). The waffle cotton/poly fabric was comfortably warm to keep me from getting too chilly but absorbent/breathable for when I was warm. I washed it on the heavy cycle twice and put it in the dryer with no radical changes to the garment -- they were originally made to handle industrial washers so I am not surprised. I feel this is a fine choice for anyone having to deal with multiple medical visits or for those who wish to improve their visits to their doctor's offices.
