Takako Kitano's Tatted Accessories

Takako Kitano's "Small Tatted Lace Accessories" book of tatting patterns was mentioned in the July 01, 2012 article (http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art18859.asp) which listed a number of Japanese language titles. It is a small book, 8" x 5" with 90 pages. All of the projects are presented in full color in a finished state and displayed with indications for use. The focus of the tatting is to create wearable art, necklaces, bracelets, hair ornaments.

Some traditional style edgings and motifs are presented including the classic tatted rosette. Varying sizes of this humble motif are combined to create a magnificent neck piece, the Kodemari Collar. Although stunning in monochrome, the possibilities of multicolored treatments are inspiring.

All the basic techniques and movements are illustrated for beginning tatters. No advanced techniques except for interlocking rings are needed. I was disappointed to see the "up" join taught instead of the "down" join. (For more into please see: http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art55501.asp here on BellaOnline.com's tatting column.) Otherwise this is a delightful books with charming projects.
