One of my favorite teenage memories I have is when I caddied for my dad on the first nine at the Yowani Golf Club in Canberra when I was thirteen. I had a thought that perhaps I might like to make golf my sport and so my dad took me along with him and a few of his buddies one Saturday morning.
The course looked beautiful in the early morning light and I thoroughly enjoyed steering Dad’s buggy over the soft grass. I never did take up golf, but it was something my father adored and would take the opportunity to play whenever the chance arose.
As a father of four daughters I sort of understand why he spent so much time on the course – back in those days some Dad’s didn’t really know how to connect with daughters. Anyway, that’s another story.
I have had a request from a reader for golf themed quilts, patterns, designs and fabrics. Unfortunately there’s not much around that’s free, so I’ve collected a list of free and not so free resources for those of you who would like to make a golf themed quilt for someone in your family.
