Spring Cleaning Your Home

It's that time of year where the weather is starting to get warmer and the snow is melting. It usually inspires people (& animals) to clean up their space. No matter where your inspiration strikes you - use it to your advantage. If you can only spend just a very few moments every day, use those moments wisely!

As you spend time on each of these items, make sure you make note of any touch-ups or repairs that need to be taken care of. This way you won't forget about them!

Spring Cleaning Ideas:

1) Vacuum intake vents
2) Clean window sills/crevices
3) Wash bedroom windows (inside & out)
4) Clean laundry cupboards
5) Clean out bedroom drawers
6) Vacuum bedroom closet floors
7) Wash rugs
8) Clean light fixtures (even tall ones) and lamp bulbs
9) Clean the vacuum
10) Caulk shower/tub/toilets
11) Clean shower/bath walls
12) Clean bath drains/faucets/towel racks
13) Scrub bath floors
14) Organize children's toys (discard unused or broken ones)
15) Inventory food & home storage/pantry
16) Vacuum drapes/blinds/slats
17) Clean out bedroom closets
18) Clean out Freezer(s)
19) Wash and store all winter clothing and blankets.

These aren't your typical items, necessarily, for cleaning. You might not have thought about them or done them before. Typically, cleaning out the refrigerators, oven, and cleaning under appliances is done in the winter time. You usually have more guests at this time for Holiday activities. I find for our family (& my sanity) I need to have clearly defined roles for each cleaning spree, whether it is quarterly, yearly, or bi-yearly jobs that need to be completed. We also decide ahead of time who are responsible for each one. It doesn't always have to be the same person. These are things that the family can decide on together and work together on. Each person can be responsible for the "deep cleaning" that happens in their room - but under the supervision of the parent. This way the job is done completely and correctly, the first time! Working together always makes the jobs more fun (you have to set the pace and the mood - don't let the children!) and you can get a lot more completed if everyone works together!

Make it a great one!
