Thousands of years earlier, the Asgardians had battled and annihilated the Dark Elves and had disposed of their weapon, Aether. But their leader, Malekith, along with some of his warriors escaped and have remained dormant, awaiting the Convergence aka the alignment of planets and the return of the Aether to make his presence known. When Jane Foster unwittingly falls prey to the Aether, it’s up to Thor, who’s been bringing peace to the nine realms, to save her and to battle against the destruction that Malekith intends to bring forth. Here are a few movie mistakes to look for while watching “Thor – The Dark World”.
∙ Near the beginning of the movie, the Asgardians are fighting a battle on Vanaheim. Sif uses her shield to stop an arrow/javelin that was meant for Thor. The arrow gets stuck in the top left part of her shield. But when Sif is shown after Thor destroys the rock monster and a again a few moments later when they’re corralling the prisoners, there is no hole in her shield where the arrow went through.
∙ Darcy shows up at the restaurant where Jane and her date are sitting. When Jane tells her “it’s time to go now”, the close-up of Darcy when she replies “OK” shows the electronic device is in her right hand. It cuts to a right side view when she stands up and the device is in her left hand.
∙ Malekith fights Frigga in the chamber and Algrim grabs her. In the close-up view, Algrim is holding onto her right shoulder (near her neck) with his right hand. When Malekith calls her a witch, it cuts to a further view and Algrim’s entire right arm is now wrapped around her.
∙ CAUTION: May Contain Spoilers! Algrim throws a weapon in the air that creates a portal. Loki sees this and pushes Jane to the ground. Everything begins to get sucked through the portal, including Loki. The close-up of Loki as he’s in the air, shows that he’s not holding anything in his hands. Thor grabs him in the air and the close-up of them after they land on the ground shows Loki is suddenly holding his knife in his left hand.
∙ CAUTION: May Contain Spoilers! Near the end of the movie, Jane, Eric, Darcy and Ian are sitting at the table eating breakfast. Jane is holding her spoon in her right hand as she eats. She’s still holding it in the side view when she mentions “he kinda committed treason…”. It cuts to a front view and she’s not holding the spoon anymore and proceeds to pick it up.
