More January Releases

Hello, and welcome back! Hope you´re all reading some of the great new romances hitting the bookstore shelves this month. I´m still getting caught up with reviews, and have three more to share with you this time around. In the next week or two, I´ll hopefully have things back to a normal schedule here.

Most of us have favorite authors, those women who bring us a new book at least once a year. The first book I´m going to talk about this week, though, is by a new author, whose first book was out just a couple months ago--Elizabeth English´s Laird of the Mist
Laird of the Mist
(Jove´s Highland Fling). Remember Alistair Kirallen, banned from his clan´s lands at the end of Ms. English´s last book? This time out, he´s the hero, and boy, what a hero! He already had some issues prior to being banned, but now he´s got some real problems. Deirdre Maxwell leads a far from ideal life, with a husband who´s less than ideal. But when she meets Alistair, things begin to look a little better. Or do they? Ms. English writes a very compelling tale with truly believable characters and conflicts, and I´m really looking forward to her next. This one´s earned four of Cupid´s five arrows.

Next up is Patricia Potter´s Broken Honor
Broken Honor
(Jove). Amy Mallory is content with her life as a professor, and has no intention of breaking her vow to stay away from men in uniform. But someone else has other plans for her. Lucien "Irish" Flaherty crosses paths with Amy as they try to uncover the secrets of their grandfathers, and sparks fly. Irish is one heck of a hero, and Amy is his match, rising to every occasion and surprising even herself. Or maybe, especially herself. You have to cheer for them to defeat the bad guys in this fast-paced tale. I´m giving it four arrows also.

Finally, we have Pendragon
Pendragon
(Jove), Catherine Coulter´s latest foray into the world of the Sherbrooke family. Meggie Sherbrooke has loved her distant "cousin" Jeremy from afar for ages and is very disappointed when he breaks her heart by announcing his engagement to another. Both to get back at him, and out of gratitude for aid to her family, she quickly marries Thomas Malcombe, Earl of Lancaster. But why is he so eager to marry her? This was a pleasant enough tale to while away a few hours, but not a keeper for me. It´s earned only three arrows.

Until next week, happy reading!
