Godsend

When Paul and Jessie Duncan lose their only child, the grief stricken couple is approached by the mysterious Dr. Wells with the option of creating another child like their beloved Adam. But as this Adam approaches the age of his predecessor, horrific things begin to unfold. Is it a genetic mishap or is Adam reaching out beyond the grave? Here are a few movie mistakes to look for while watching “Godsend”.

∙ Near the beginning, after the party, Paul and Jessie are on the sofa. In the overhead view, when she asks if he’s thought about the job offer, Jessie’s right arm is on Paul’s back and her hand is next to his shoulder. It cuts to a front view when he says “you realize it would mean moving”, and her hand is at his waist.

∙ Adam Number Two gets out of the bathtub and the shower curtain is pulled down. When the curtain falls, it covers the right side of the tub. When Paul calls out for him, the view of the tub shows the curtain is in the middle. It cuts to a view behind Adam and the curtain is back in its original position, to the right side of the tub. But when Adam is next to it, almost the entire tub is covered.

∙ Jessie is wearing a tan coat with white trim when she walks to the photo gallery. When she stops outside, a rear view shows her coat has a hood attached. Jessie walks into the shop and a side/rear view of her when her phone begins to rings shows her coat has no hood. It’s still gone when she walks to the door. But a few moments later, when she’s walking down the sidewalk, Jessie’s coat once again has a hood.

∙ Paul and Jessie get out of the vehicle on the bridge where Roy’s mother is screaming. All of the vehicle’s windows are up. But when they look back at Adam, some of the windows are down.

∙ CAUTION: May Contain Spoilers! After Richard hits Paul in the head with the candleholder at the church, the close-up of Paul as he’s crawling on the floor shows blood trailing down the left side of his forehead. There is also blood along the left bottom part of his face, towards his chin. But when Richard pushes him down on the floor, the blood on Paul’s forehead is smeared and almost gone and the blood at the bottom of his face now trails above his lip.

“Godsend” (2004) stars Greg Kinnear, Rebecca Romijn, Robert De Niro and Cameron Bright. It runs 102 minutes and is rated PG-13 for violence including frightening images, a scene of sexuality and some thematic material.
