In the 1960's Pepperidge Farm made a product that was a brown and serve roll. They were found on the shelves of the store next to the sliced bread. For years, Club Rolls were my absolute favorite bread product. Their taste and texture seemed like the height of elegance to me in those long-ago years.
Recently, I purchased Pepperidge Farm Stone Baked Artisan Rolls. These are French rolls, and they remind me of my old favorite. However, these Artisan Rolls are even tastier. They have a creamy, moist crumb on the inside. The crust is delightfully crunchy, without being tough and hard to chew.
Each roll is a no-fat treat. They have 120 calories each and contain 25 grams of carbohydrate. The rolls provide significant iron and B-vitamins in the forms of folate, niacin, riboflavin, and thiamin.
Preparation is simple. Pull the bag out of the freezer and have the rolls ready in less than 15 minutes. There is about 10 minutes of cooking time in either a conventional oven or a toaster oven. Then, the rolls need to stand for 5 minutes before serving. How easy is that?
It goes without saying that these rolls are excellent with a bit of butter or olive oil, but what kinds of sandwiches work with them? I highly recommend sliced chicken with mayo and muffaletta olive salad. You can also slice the cooled roll with a serrated knife, grill it, and serve it with DiLusso's rare roast beef and horsey sauce. Ham sandwiches, with or without cheese, are real treats when you serve them on Pepperidge Farm Stone Baked Artisan Rolls.
Here are some sandwich meal suggestions that use the Pepperidge Farm Stone Baked Artisan Rolls as the bread in the sandwiches:
*Sliced chicken with mayo and muffaletta olive salad sandwich served with Green Bean Salad, potato chips, and a peanut butter cookie.
* DiLusso's rare roast beef and horsey sauce sandwich served with Easy Low Carb Spinach Salad, mixed vegetable chips, and a butter cookie.
*Ham and Lorraine Swiss cheese sandwich with Creamy Cauliflower Edamame Salad, sweet potato chips, and peach cobbler.
Easily prepared, these sandwich meals will provide solid nutrition and great taste for you and your family. Don't feel limited by my suggestions.
