War Of The Worlds (2005)

Mankind is on the brink of extermination when alien forces ignite dormant tripods that have long been buried in the earth. While watching others fall around him, Ray Ferrier risks everything for the survival of his children, Robbie and Rachel. Here are a few movie mistakes to look for while watching 2005’s “War of the Worlds”.

∙ Mary Ann and Tim arrive at Ray’s place to drop the kids off. When Rachel is trying to get her suitcase out of the back seat, the vehicle’s door is against the utility pole. But when her mom walks over to help her, it’s only partially open. In the next far view, the door is against the pole again.

∙ After she shows Ray her hand, Rachel sits on the sofa. When she first sits down, Rachel is slanted against the back cushion and the arm of the sofa. But in the next front view, she’s sitting upright on the couch.

∙ Ray runs to the backyard when it appears that a storm is approaching. A back view of him shows that the hood on his shirt blows up, around his head. The scene then cuts to a front view of Ray and his hood is down, in its original position.

∙ Before the tripods appear, there is a view of a church cracking and being destroyed. To the right of the screen, there are two men working on a lift. In a close-up, back view of them, the lift is swaying from the commotion. They’re then shown again in a far view and the lift is completely still, not moving at all. The scene cuts back to another back view of the two workers and the lift is in motion again!

∙ Ray pulls the van over because Rachel needs to go to the bathroom. As Rachel is running through the field, there is a back view of Ray standing next to the back of the van. In the front view of Rachel running, when she says “I’m not going in front of you guys!”, Ray is in the background opening the rear hatch of the van. It then cuts to the rear view of Ray again and the hatch is closed!

“War of the Worlds” (2005) stars Tom Cruise, Dakota Fanning, Miranda Otto, Justin Chatwin and Tim Robbins. It runs 116 minutes and is rated PG-13 for frightening sequences of sci-fi violence and disturbing images.
