Repair to Hole Nine

Work has started to repairing damage to golf hole number nine of Creek three. The green had the most damage as it was completely destroyed. The new owners are now working on the new green. So my little review will take you on a tour of what this golf hole looks like from different sites. This hole was is one our ladies cursed at because of the trees in the fairway. This is Robert Trent Jones Jr. trade mark on his designs of golf courses. On this hole we have two trees in the fairway. The first picture starts from the women’s tee so you can’t even see the second tree. A woman has to hit a high long drive to keep you out of trouble. If you aim away from the trees you ball will end up running down the slope to more trouble.

The next picture takes you to the second tree and you can see the green will be on down the fairway. It looks like a good fairway wood could get you there. Don’t be fooled as it is further than you think. Although there were not hazard to deal with it, a good shot if you could hit a straight ball. The green always looked inviting and challenging and always hoping to make the par four but for me it was a rare occasion.

We have the heavy machinery at work and the men and ladies to do their job of building a new golf green. It has been interesting to watch them work, with the proper equipment that have to be used, to make a good green. I met a gal who was sitting in one of the carts having a lunch break. I visited with her for a short while. These people know what they are doing and hard workers.

The old green had sand traps on both sides and the green had a swale in it that really surprised me the first time I played this hole. I did not see the swale and it took my ball for a ride. Now with a new green built up higher this is going to be interesting. They have fenced it in so suppose to keep people off of it while they build a good base for the green. We have had damage done to our course in the past so hopefully with the new owners who are part of our community this will stop.

From the back side of the green you can see how high they have built it up so to stop flood damage. This should deflect and debris that come roaring down the creek with trees and whatever it picks up on its way down stream. We hope the floods can hold off for a few more years, it has held up since 2010 and four years is good
