American Psycho

By day Patrick Bateman lives an ideal life. He’s a hot shot Wall Street investment banking Vice President with a luxury apartment and the high class friends and associates who party and dine at the top rated New York restaurants. By night, his murderous psychopathic side takes control, leaving carnage and the bodies of associates, friends and strangers who happen to cross his path. But will he be able to hold on to his sanity as he tries to keep the two personalities separate; especially with having to deal with Detective Donald Kimball who’ investigating the disappearance of one of Patrick’s victims? Try to find these movie mistakes in “American Psycho”.

∙ Patrick Bateman is at the Christmas party, talking to his fiancé Evelyn, when someone sneaks up behind him and places reindeer antlers on his head. The headband comes down the side of his head, with the tips in front of his ears. But when Patrick walks towards Paul Allen, the ends of the headband are now behind his ears.

∙ Patrick is in his apartment with Paul Allen, talking about Huey Lewis & the News’ song “Hip to Be Square”. When Patrick walks towards the camera to pick up the axe, the collars on the plastic raincoat are down/flat. But when he grabs the axe and turns around, the left collar is folded up. It’s down again when he swings and then up after he’s done.

∙ The first time Detective Donald Kimball visits Patrick at his office, Jean brings in a bottle and glass and places them at the corner of the desk for the detective. It’s still the only two things at the corner of the desk during the front view of Kimball when he asks Patrick “what can you tell me about Paul Allen”. A few moments later, when he mentions the message on the answering machine, there is now a crystal dish on the corner with the bottle and glass.

“American Psycho” (2000) stars Christian Bale, Justin Theroux, Josh Lucas, Chloe Sevigny, Reese Witherspoon, Jared Leto and Willem Dafoe. It runs 102 minutes and is rated R for strong violence, sexuality, drug use and language.
