Forty Original Designs in Tatting By Nellie Hall Youngburg Novel and Unique Designs with Complete Instructions for Every Pattern Designed and Executed by Nellie Hall Youngburg Brookings, SDİ 1921. As a summer tatting project tatters in the Online Tatting Class have been rewriting and modernizing the patterns in this vintage tatting book. Diagrams and new models have been prepared to help the tatter follow the patterns more easily. Both the original public domain booklet and the new version are being posted online to share with all tatters everywhere.

The original pattern called for the rings to be white thread and the chains to be tatted in blue thread. Any color combination will work and the variegated thread used by Carol Parry in this model was very effective.



Ring 1: R 4 - 4 - 4 - 4 clr dnrw leave no space

Ring 2: R 4 + (join to last picot of R1) 4 - 4 - 4 clr rw

Chain 1: CH 6 - 1 - 1 - 2 rw

Ring 3: R 4 + (join to last picot of R2) 4 clr rw

Chain 2: CH 2 - 1 - 1 - 6 rw



Repeat:

Ring 1: R 4 + (join back to the same picot of R2 of the previous set) 4 - 4 - 4 clr dnrw leave no space

Ring 2: R 4 + (join to last picot of R1) 4 - 4 - 4 clr rw

Chain 1: CH 6 - 1 - 1 - 2 rw

Ring 3: R 4 + (join to last picot of R2) 4 clr rw

Chain 2: CH 2 - 1 - 1 - 6 rw



Note Ring 2, 3 and then ring 1 of the new repeat all share the same picot join.
