The easiest way to ensure you have fun at the beach is to bring the right items with you. Going to the beach differs from going to the pool. At the pool you are going to swim, get wet, sit poolside and then swim some more. At the beach, however, there is much more that can happen. Volleyball, getting sandy, bar-b-ques or picnics, plus all the water stuff. There can be a lot of items necessary to bring when going to the beach." Here's a quick and consolidated list of what you will need.
Attire
When going to the beach, make sure to wear good, beach attire. Clothing that can get wet and is easily taken off and on is best. This means first and foremost, a swim suit if you are planning to get wet. If you are going to JUST play in the sand, sun yourself or bbq, then shorts and a t-shirt and tank are going to be adequate. But, considering there is water close by, odds are that you are going to get wet. There's a huge possibility that you may get drenched. Dressing in a swim suit is a good bet.
You also want to have extras on hand. An extra swimsuit or top will help if the first one fits poorly or gets damaged in some way. Flip flops or sandals will keep your feet happy when walking on the sand. Water sox are a great idea as well.

Accessories
Sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, towels, are all items to take, in addition to the swim suit and shoes. You may also want to bring a few beach appropriate play things as well. You really can't arrive at a beach without the volleyball or football or Frisbee, now can you?

Have a beach bag at the ready is always a good idea. You can have clean towels, a water bottle or two, some plates, napkins, utensils, sunscreen, hats and sunglasses in a bag. All you need is to get dressed and you are ready to go. Oh, and add an extra pair of underwear to the beach bag. Once you suit is soaked, filled with sand, and it's time to go home, it's easiest to strip off the suit, dust off the sand and wrap the suit in the towel. Then you can put on some dry clothing for the ride/walk home.
