REJUVENATION - STAYING SEXY AND VITAL IN OUR MIDLIFE YEARS

Goldie Hawn, Jane Seymour, Jaclyn Smith, Kim Basinger, Madonna, Christie Brinkley, Suzanne Somers. What do “we” all have in common? the answer is -- MIDLIFE. And, chances are that, if you are reading this, you are a participant in this adventure involving the next chapter of life with us.

It feels good to know that I actually (and finally) have something in common with these gorgeous, sexy ladies, who are just some of the beautiful classy women who are on the same adventure with us.

I guess you could safely say that, like us, whether pre-menopausal, menopausal or post menopausal, celebrities also are dealing with the tumultuous hormonal years that midlife brings to all women -- even celebrities who have appeared to us to be in the extraordinary league. They are, in fact, women just like us - just human - aging along with us - and having the same issues that other “mere” mortals have.

Suzanne Somers has come out with a new book entitled, “The Sexy Years”. I watched her on Larry King Live the other night as she talked about her book with great enthusiasm and pride. She claims to have found the “elixir”, or the “juice of life”, as she calls it in the introduction to her book. She is referring to natural bioidentical hormones, and she is crediting them with helping to alleviate all her uncomfortable symptoms which are usually associated with menopause - i.e., bloating, itching, hot flashes, PMS, night sweats, forgetfulness, loss of libido and weight gain, among others.

According to Ms. Somers, women entering menopause lose 90% of their hormones within the first two years.

I have been on my own personal quest over the last four years to find a natural remedy for my fluctuating hormones. I have tried the synthetic and decided it was not the way I wanted to go. I have recently stumbled onto a website quite by accident entitled, WomentoWomen.com. This site offers a wealth of information for women struggling with menopause. They offer three (3) separate personal plans according to the severity of your symptoms.

There is a little test called the Hormonal Balance Profile you can take on this site to establish yourprofile which, in turn, designates the level of the program that is the best fit for you according to the severity of your symptoms a profiled. This program contains natural, medical-grade ingredients which are doctor-formulated and hypo-allergenic. Their essential nutrients are the foundation of their personal program. They contain six patented compounds. In addition to a Certified Menopause Clinician, this site has a female MD as well..

I will continue to do my research on this subject and will further update you as to my findings; and put the information “out there” for you so you can be better prepared and informed in order to make an educated decision on what would be right for you.

Information You Can Use Now

Tips to Relieve Bloating

I have discovered a couple of helpful tips relative to water weight. Citrus fruit acts as a natural antacid by boosting bile production in the stomach, speeding digestion and reducing temporary stomach bloating. So, next time you need to banish bloat, either cut a wedge or squeeze some lemon into a glass of water before drinking.

Did you know that regular table salt, because it is chemically processed, doesn’t dissolve quickly in your system, which means it can build up and cause bloating? Wherever possible, you are better off using unrefined sea salt since it contains no chemicals; therefore, bloating is less likely to occur.

Soy - In Moderation

If you eat soy, try to avoid eating it more than two days a week as it is known to be a thyroid-slowing food. It contains a substance called goitrogen, which inhibits thyroid hormone production.

With the right tools and information we can be the women we were before the onset of menopausal symptoms -- no, we can be better - if we take care of our bodies and see them as the precious temples that they are.

Now, ladies, refill those salt shakers, stock up on some lemons and keep this in mind. Gena Rowlands once said, “At a certain age you realize you must be reincarnated throughout your life. Reinventing yourself gives you new energy and keeps life exciting.”
