Bible Reading Plans

All Christians somewhat agree that reading the Bible daily is essential to stay away from evil and know more about God. However, Christian believers have somehow been trapped in a delusion where they fail to read the Bible completely. Often Bible reading times are limited to scanning through a Chapter or a few verses or worse still, just a single verse or phrase that hangs on the wall. By allowing this trend to seep into our quiet time routine, we unconsciously starve ourselves of spiritual food that the Bible provides and become vulnerable to sin.

Imagine reading an interesting novel and having just few chapters in hand. Will that make sense? Or worse still how would it be to just read a paragraph of the novel and never really see the end of the story at all? No matter how thrilling this novel maybe, most of us would, in all probability lose interest in what we read under these conditions. Distressingly we believers often read the Bible in just the same way, ending up feeling that we just can’t make sense of the Bible or even giving up on a regular Bible study routine.

To get the most of the Bible, it seems essential to follow the basic principles applicable to any reading and read the Bible entirely. We all do have time constraints that restrict us. But that need not put us off reading the Bible and understanding God’s plan. Following a Bible Reading plan to cover the entire Bible in a year is a good idea to get a reasonable does of God’s word each day.

Maybe there is really no need for a rigid plan to read through the Bible in a year if all of us believers made it a point to read the entire Bible each year or even several times a year by ourselves. Since that sounds impossible, it seems essential to grab a copy of a Bible reading plan to read the Bible through at least once in a year.

The most economical way to secure a Bible reading plan is to scan the final pages of your Bible. Most Bibles, if not all, come with a ‘Read the Bible In a Year’ plan at the end or beginning and this is a good tool to get started. If you’d like to do a chronological study of Biblical writings, you could buy specially designed plans from a store. Several Bible study plans are available online and can be easily downloaded or printed out for use.

No matter what plan you choose, stick to it and persevere with your decision. This will never be smooth sailing and you are sure to find yourself missing out on your schedule. No matter how much you lag behind, keep following your plan, prayerfully making up wherever possible and you will certainly find yourself blessed for not giving up!
