Getting the Right Carry On Bag

When I travel by plane, I like to travel light with only one piece of luggage if possible.

I want a bag that will hold up to rough baggage handlers and be able to hold all my clothes and camera gear.

I'm 6'7" tall. I do not have any problem getting my bag into the overhead compartment since my head is usually at that level anyway. As a matter of fact, my head is usually banging on the overhead compartment, because the compartment is so low to the seat nowadays. But the compartments are getting smaller and I need a bag that is roomy and will fit in the available space.

When I travel by plane, I like to travel light with only one luggage bag if possible. On my last trip to Europe for 13 days, I took a backpack and I took too much and over packed. I had everything in the backpack that I needed and then some. I had plenty of room in the backpack much to my surprise. When I travel by plane in the US, I like to travel with one carry on bag and my laptop and I carry them both on.

Last summer while in Wyoming with a buddy, I heard about a bag that was made in Billings Montana called the Red Oxx Air Boss. I like Montana and I like things that are made there like H.S. Trask men's shoes made in Bozeman. Or my Simms fly fishing waders also made in Bozeman. So far as I can tell, all goods made in Montana are well made, and American made! So when I heard about this bag made in Billings, I had to check it out.

Red Oxx Air Boss

I read a few reviews of the Air Boss and one of the reviews caught my eye. It said that the guy who bought the bag was able to get the following into it:
2 cargo shorts, 7 dress shirts, 3 jeans, 1 dress pant, 11 boxers, 16 pair socks, 4 t-shirts, 1 pair cowboy boots - the list went on and on.

The bag comes in 12 different colors. I am not going to try to match this bag up with the color of my trench coat or try to blend with the color of my slacks. When I travel I am more about my bag being seen by the baggage handlers when they put the bags on the plane as I am about being able to see it on the bag carousels at the airport. The colors of the Air Boss are all too dark for me except for the red and the saffron. The red would really go with my white hair and I might be able to get my wife to buy into the red color more easily than the saffron. But I really like the saffron.

Space here does not really allow me to give a complete review of this bag, but I have it on my buy list to get one before my next plane trip.
