The Happiest Toddler on the Block - BOOK REVIEW

The Happiest Toddler on the Block : The New Way to Stop the Daily Battle of Wills and Raise a Secure and Well-Behaved One- to Four-Year-Old

by Harvey Karp and Paula Spencer
Bantam
March 2, 2004

As you read The Happiest Toddler on the Block, you realize that there are other moms who also feel frustrated and often clueless when it comes to getting their child to behave. If you sometimes feel inept when your toddler starts to 'act up' then this is the book for you. The title says it succinctly - ...The Daily Battle of Wills."

In The Happiest Toddler on the Block, you are guided through your little ones toddler stages, with gentleness and expertise by the author(s). If your mom or mom-in-law gives you this book as a present it's not that they think you are doing a poor job of raising little Timmy. It's just that they have walked in your shoes and realize that this gem of a book with its' sometimes unorthodox sounding advice really works.

Know someone with a tot entering the 'terrible-two's' stage? Look no further for a "something to perk you" up gift.

I have not read the second book listed The Happiest Baby on the Block: The New Way to Calm Crying and Help Your Newborn Baby Sleep Longer. It is offered simply because the 'Happiest Toddler' book is so on target in the caring for and disciplining of children when they are at a most difficult stage of change and growth in their young lives, 'Happiest Baby' is probably a good bet as well.
