March Contemporaries

Hello, and welcome back! I'm finishing up the March romances this week and have a rather large stack of April romances waiting, and ready to go for you.

First up this time out is Jane Blackwood's The Sexiest Dead Man Alive
The Sexiest Dead Man Alive
(Zebra). Rose Pisano's job cooking for a real-live hermit-type isn't tough. It's not great either, but it's helping her to put away money for her own restaurant. When it turns out her boss is the supposedly-dead Declan McDonald, things get interesting. Of course, a relationship with him is out of the question. Once the whole world knows he's alive, he can't be linked to a nobody like her. But that doesn't mean she can't use her connection to him for restaurant publicity. I wanted to like this one more than I did. Rose is smart, and smart-mouthed. Mac is a little too tortured, though, almost to the point of martrydom. I did like a couple of the secondary characters a lot, however. I'm borrowing three of Cupid's five arrows for it.

The other book I have for you this time out is Kasey Michaels's This Can't Be Love
This Can't Be Love
(Zebra). Molly Applegate is thrilled to be closing up her cousin's daycare center. Dom Longstreet is not thrilled, however, because he was depending on that daycare center to keep his niece and nephew while he works. While Molly can change her plans to babysit, the close contact between this pair is going to throw a monkeywrench into all their carefully-laid plans--or at least, Dom's--and neither of their lives will be the same. If you like the idea of acting and singing professions for a change from the normal executives, you may enjoy this one just for that. This one's earned three and a half arrows.

Be sure to join us over in the forum for our April Book Club Discussion of Diana Gabaldon's "Outlander." And until next time, happy reading!
