Ely Nevada is for the Dogs

Summer Travel to Ely, Nevada. Gorgeous clear days with
billowing clouds and panoramic views along with cool crisp
evenings…perfect every night for campfires.

If you are traveling from Reno, Nevada to get to Ely…you
will drive on the "Loneliest Road in America" Haven driven
this road several times…I can agree with this statement and
add on that it can get very boring. The views are nice,
but they stay the same for what seems hours. It is about 5
hours of high desert, salt flats and not much else.

About ¾ of the way down the road is a small town with
mountains and a wonderful local café. Stop in for a piece
of homemade pie if you have time…well worth this long
desolate drive. It is fun to drive into and around… as it
has something to look at around every corner. Old mining
towns are fun to explore if they haven't been turned into a
tourist trap.

Road Side Stop Near Ely Nevada.

Just outside of Ely are several off road stops so you can
look at the view. Just more of the same and the fantastic
mountains and valleys of the Ely area are not yet within
range. So…unless you are stargazing, keep on moving down
the road.

Mountains Surrounding the Ely Nevada Valley.

Days of touring down old dirt tracks will get you to
lakes, mines and so much beauty that it will take your
breath away. This area would take a full week to explore
and make sure you have 4-wheel drive.

Pet Stop - Pit Stop

Dalmation Painted Hydrant.

If you are the type that travels with the "poochees…" You
will be glad to find that Ely is a dog friendly town. This
gas and snack food stop on the edge of town will give your
dog a chance to cool his paws on a grassy spot just for
him.

The nicest hotel to stay with the doggies is the Copper Queen in Ely. You will enjoy an indoor swimming pool and spa right next to the slots, as well as a great little restaurant upstairs with a view of the pool and slot area.
The dogs are welcome to snooze in your room while you play.
