1800 - The Library of Congress was founded.

1907 - Hersheypark in Hershey, PA officially opened.

1916 - The Easter Rebellion began in Ireland.

1953 - Winston Churchill became Sir Winston Churchill when he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II on this date.

1981 - The first IBM personal computer was introduced!

1990 - NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope was launched.

Lou Thesz the legendary wrestler was born in 1916.

Robert Penn Warren author of “All the King’s Men” was born in 1905.

Justin Wilson best known as the Cajun cook was born in 1914.

Bud Abbott one half of the popular “Abbott and Costello” team passed away in 1974 at the age of 78.

Willa Cather author of “My Antonia” passed away in 1947 at the age of 73.

Estee Lauder the cosmetics mogul passed away in 2004 at the age of 95.

Lucy Maud Montgomery author of “Anne of the Green Gables” passed away in 1942 at the age of 67.

Wallis Simpson passed away in 1986 at the age of 89. England’s King Edward VIII abdicated his throne in order to marry her.
