Planning out your business-building year can be as simple as setting up a poster board, getting a supply of Post-it ™ Notes and having a pen handy to write down your moneymaking ideas, positive affirmations and favorite quotations.
In the video you’ll see how I’ve set up a central theme in the middle of my foam board. I chose a brightly colored foam board so after a month or two it won’t unconsciously fade into the background of my office and I’ll forget it is in the room. It’s bright enough that it will catch my eye and I’ll remember to read the notes. The whole purpose of my board is to help me stay focused on the positives I intend to achieve during the coming year.
On the Post-it ™ Notes I place my goals, affirmations, positive sayings, motivational quotations and some thoughts about my goals. I add a new Post-it ™ Note every time I think of something interesting, see something I want to remember or read a great quotation that fits into my theme. I want to feed my subconscious mind positive thoughts so I’ll keep going positively forward day-to-day. I don’t want lose my focus or get distracted by the next “shinny object.” I know from experience, it is easy to become distracted by the next “great” idea before you’ve completed the original one.
I also use my poster board as an unofficial mind mapping or brainstorming tool. I place my ideas on the board and every week or so I go back to read the notes and organize them into categories. As I’m organizing these notes I keep asking myself, “How many ways will I make these ideas or goals reality?” I purposely work to stay focused on solutions and not allow myself to become distracted by the challenges.
There’s nothing fancy about my poster board and Post-it™ Notes success strategy but it works for me. It is a simple idea that may work for you too. Success in business, and in life, is all about staying focused on the “how many ways” you can and will achieve your personal, professional and moneymaking goals and not allowing yourself to become distracted by the obstacles.
