Yalumba Viognier

An excellent white wine, with body and fragrance.

Yalumba is an aboriginal word meaning "all the land around." The Yolumba is a family winery located in South Australia. They began planting Viognier in 1980, and the winery is now the largest producer of Viognier in Australia.

This 2004 vintage brings forth some of the finer points of Viognier. It has the perfumes of lemon, honeysuckle, melons, and herbs. A big nose promises a big flavor. The Yalumba delivers on its promise. It has full flavors of ripe apricots, citrus, and spices. The acidity keeps it tart. This wine has a full body that will stand up to most dishes. Try it with dishes with some heat to them (Asian, Mexican, curries, etc.) and you will find the flavors of the food and the Viognier complementing and enhancing each other.

Special from Geerlings & Wade!
