Red and White Wines for the Weekend

Looking for a new wine to try? Try this red or white and you won't be blue.

Castle Rock Sauvignon Blanc
This wine is a great bargain at $8.00 a bottle. You will experience why Napa is considered one of the best regions for Savignon Blance, without the hefty price tag. It has a medium-body with green apple, grapefruit, honey, and lemony flavors. The aromas will remind you of freshly mown grass. The finish is smooth. Pair this wine with a summer day, friends, grilled chicken, or seafood.

Tres Picos Garnacha, Bodegas Borsao DO Campo De Borja (2001)
This wine, made from old Spanish vines, will bring you a wine that qualifies as a great buy. It has a deep red color with purple hues and a medium-body. Your nose will be greeted by aromas of raspberries and black cherries. The flavors are the wonderful mingling of chocolate, leather, plums, and smoke. It is well balanced, leaving a long, luscious finish in your mouth. At about $10 a bottle, you can drink it now and save a few bottles for next year.

Special from Geerlings & Wade!
