We have found another show from Disney that we just love! The show is Aaron Stone. It is a live action show that airs on Disney XD, on Monday nights. This is one that our family enjoys watching together.
Aaron Stone is about a 16 year old boy named Charlie Landers (Kelly Blatz) who is hooked on Video games. Charlie is the best player world wide on a game called Hero Rising. Little does Charlie know but the game is actually being used by its creator billionaire T. Abner Hall (Martin Roach) as a tool to recruit the best fighters world wide.
Hall recruits Charlie to help him by becoming the real life version of his online avatar Aaron Stone. Charlie, as Aaron Stone, must save the world by defeating the evil Omega Defiance. All the scenarios, characters, and gadgets are straight out of the video game.
Charlie must keep his Aaron Stone identity a secret from everyone, thus he must attend school, do his homework, do his chores, and keep up the appearance of being a normal teenage boy. He has a hard time keeping his secret from his 14 year old brother, Jason Landers (David Lambert) and his mom, Amanda Landers (Shauna MacDonald) who is VP of HALL Industries. HALL Industries is the company for which T. Abner Hall is President and founder.
Hall sends Stan (J.P. Manoux) and android to help Aaron on his mission and to keep an eye on Charlie and his family. Stan becomes a boarder at the Landers home as well as teacher at Charlie's school. We are led to believe that Hall created Stan. Stan must follow Asimov's laws of robotics, he can not harm a human, he cannot allow a human to be harmed, and he must obey orders.
There is one person close to Charlie that does find out his alternate identity of Aaron Stone, his next door neighbor and classmate Emma Lau (Tania Gunadi). We are first led to believe that she is working for the Omega Defiance, the evil organization that Aaron is fighting. But is is soon revealed that she is instead working for Hall by keeping an eye on Charlie. She is also the one who makes most of Aaron's gadgets that he uses to fight the Omega Defiance. Emma as her online avatar Dark Tamara is now able to go on some mission with Aaron and fight alongside him.
The characters are put into many funny as well as difficult situations that keeps the show interesting.
We enjoy this show for a few reasons. We enjoy hero type movies and shows, especially ones that show kids as the heroes. We also enjoy playing video games a s a family.
So far the violence has been kept a minimal and nothing has been graphic. There are a lot of stunts with people being punched and or kicked and they go flying across the room. But there has been no blood or gore and no one has died. This is a plus in my book as my girls are only 6 and 7 and do not need to be watching blood, gore, and violence.
But as always I would suggest watching it with your kids at least the first few times and make sure that it is something that they can handle. And you can also be there to answer any questions they might have. This show is also a great conversation starter. Here is a small list of questions to get you started. What would they do if they had a secret identity? Who would they tell? Would it be hard? What would they like their secret identity to be? Would they have any special powers? You get the idea
As always TV time should be a time to interact with each other not a time to get the kids out of your hair for a few hours.
