This pattern is my own design. You may use the pattern for yourself or gifts but you may not use it commercially.
To make your 1/2 inch square grid graph paper
To copy the pattern by hand you can create a 1/2 inch grid by measuring every half inch and making a pencil dot all the way down and across, on all four sides of a piece of 8 1/2 by 11 inch paper. Then use your ruler or straight edge to connect the dots with your pencil. Then draw the pattern lines into each square of your grid, exactly as they are shown in my design.
Materials
1 fat quarter of main color cotton calico fabric
1 fat quarter of contrasting color cotton calico fabric
matching thread
2 small Velcro dots or 2 small snaps for closing
2 fancy buttons for decoration, or you may make button holes and use the buttons to close, eliminating the need for the snaps or Velcro.
To make the collar you will need to cut a strip of fabric 22 inches long by 2.5 inches wide, with the grain of the fabric. For the collar trim, cut a strip of contrasting fabric 12 inches long and 1 inch wide on the bias, or at a 45 degree angle from the straight grain of the fabric.
