In a culture where the world is at our fingertips with the help of laptops, tablets and smartphones, it seems only natural that our wedding planning follow suit. I like the idea of one “planning foot” in the cloud while keeping the other foot firmly planted on the ground with your binder in hand.

The internet is our go-to resource for just about any need, wedding planning included. Using it to search for inspiration and then maintain organization while you are planning is a wonderful way to stay on track.

As we've seen with numerous personal wedding websites popping up, the internet is also an innovative way to keep your friends and family informed about your upcoming wedding. These sites give your loved ones a peek at the life you and your fiancé share. They also include registry information, hotel accommodations and directions, all while keeping your guests up to date on your plans for the big day.

If you or your fiancé happen to be tech-savvy, consider setting up a personal domain which redirects to your wedding site. This might impress your guests while making it easier for them to remember the website address.

Finally, to further include your guests and technology in your wedding plans, try incorporating it into your wedding reception. For couples active on social media sites like Facebook and Twitter, set up a wedding account and display a live feed near the bar at the reception. Encourage your guests to post comments and photos while they enjoy celebrating your special day. This interactive guestbook will be a fun addition you and your guest are bound to enjoy throughout the evening.
