Branching Encapsulation by Sherry Pence

Sherry Pence, "Branching Encapsulation", 18 pages in full color, plastic comb binding, 8.5" x 11". This is the fourth book by Sherry Pence is also known as LadyShuttleMaker for the wonderful ceramic shuttles she hand crafts. These shuttles are on sale at her (http://www.ladyshuttlemaker.etsy.Com)etsy shop where you can also find hand dyed silk threads in wonderful color combinations. Sherry's (http://ladyshuttlemaker.blogspot.com/)blog is well known to tatters and contains lots of pattern and great tutorials. Sherry has also been a contributor and guest teacher for the online tatting class. And one of Sherry's butterfly patterns can be found at http://www.bellaonline.com/subjects/1984.asp.

Sherry presents a very clear tutorial on encapsulation which is the basic technique used to create these designs. Accents such as leaves and flowers in multiple colors are tatted and then the tails and shuttle threads are bundled and covered as they are wrapped with the chain thread.

"Branches" are thrown off from main bundle and, in the manner of a wrapped single shuttle chain, brought back to the main bundle. Very attractive necklaces as well as edgings can be tatted in this manner. Color can be added anywhere with this style tatting.

For more information and practice patterns using encapsulation please visit the Encapsulation page on BellaOnline.com: http://www.bellaonline.com/subjects/3888.asp
