Aunt Bee's MAYBERRY COOKBOOK a review

Talk about memory lane! Aunt Bee's MAYBERRY Cookbook by Ken Beck and Jim Clark takes you back to the past. You can almost hear Aunt Bee's voice as she moves around the kitchen getting something scrumptious to eat for any one of her family or guests on "The Andy Griffith Show" we grew up watching.

The recipes in this book are varied as Aunt Bee was a Southern cook but didn't limit herself to Southern cooking. But you won't just find recipes here! There are bits of food trivia relating to Mayberry with some pictures from the show, many with character descriptions and bits of dialogue sprinkled throughout the book. It's a wonderful step back in time looking at those pictures.

Starting off there are a several menu suggestions for old-fashioned Mayberry feasts for any occasion or holiday. You'll find Barney's Cock-a-Doodle-Doo Canapes, Thelma Lou's Oyster Stew and Ernest T. Bass's Chicken-Thief Stew along with many other recipes. Like Salads? Try Aunt Bee's Broccoli Salad! Gomer didn't get left out in this menagerie.. check out Gomer's Banana Bread Pyle or try Goober's Secret Spaghetti Sauce. If it's sweets you're craving Opie offers a Lemonade Pie that is delicious! Or you could try Andy's Chocolate Eggnog Layer Pie and Floyd's Fiddle Faddle.
