The English daisy sometimes called the Moon daisy, Dog daisy, Day's Eye, Herb Margaret (Bellis perennis). No English garden could be without some daisies.
English daisies are white or off-white and can have slightly pink petals. They have a cheerful yellow middle. They are very easy to grow and look best when grown in clumps.
They are perennials and will be in flower from early spring to late autumn. They grow up to 4-6 inches tall(10cm-15cm).
They look good with forget-me-nots, pansies, tulips and othe late spring flowering bulbs. English Daisies are useful as good ground cover or they look lovely when grown as edging for paths.
Daisies like a sunny spot with well drained soil. However in winter don't let them dry out.
They are easy to grow from seed and if you sow them indoors in early spring they will flower for you in the summer. If you sow the seeds outside in later spring or summer then the plants will flower early next spring.
An old tradition is to pull the petals off one by one to see whether your lover will be true to you saying to each one - "He loves me, he loves me not".
