Making Ribbon Leis by May Masaki and Coryn Tanaka
Published by Bess Press
This is a nicely done, large print, paperback/spiral bound book for easy turning with 44 pages of instuctions on making beautiful ribbon leis and other gifts from the beautiful spirit of Aloha. This book has step by step guides and instructions with pictures illustrating the steps to making these heirloom leis. Easy to follow directions are included for each step of making these absolutely gorgeous creations.
Two of the stitches featured are the Plumeria Stitch and the Pikake Stitch which are shown and explained in detail. These leis look wonderful and will last for many years to come plus have the added benefit of preserving the flowers and greenery naturally found in Hawaii's Islands.
No more tacky looking crepe paper leis ... these leis and chokers are made from ribbon to last. Other projects include basic bows, money roses and fairies plus there are marking grids in the back of the book and supply suggestions and tips in the front of the book.
These would make wonderful gifts for anyone at any occasion. I would definitely recommend the "Making Ribbon Leis" book to anyone interested in crafts or wanting to learn how to make them and for instructors and teachers.
