Casting News for March 2007

This morning, I picked up the March 27, 2007 copy of ABC Soaps in Depth and the March 27, 2007 issue of Soap Opera Digest. While reading them, I came across some interesting casting news for All My Children, One Life to Live, and General Hospital. I don’t know how many of these rumors have any truth behind them, but they sure will change the face of the soap towns we all know and love!!

First of all, Soaps in Depth talks about Brenda’s possible return. This is a rumor that seems to pop up every other month or so, and has since Vanessa Marcil last left General Hospital in 2005. This time, there seems to be some meat behind the rumor. Jax and Sonny are in the middle of a love triangle with Carly, and of course throwing Brenda into that mix will make for some very interesting story telling. And now that Maxie’s new friend is named Cooper Barrett, there are more reasons than former loves for her to come to town. Of course, Vanessa is still working on the NBC show Las Vegas. Though there is potential here, bringing back Brenda at this point is probably just a dream.

Soaps in Depth also talks about two former Llanviewers who may or may not return. As many of us know, Passions will be going off the air later this year. That will put former Tina Lord Andrea Evans out of job. Could she be returning to One Life to Live? It was the infatuation that Mitch Laurence had for Tina--or should I say, Tina’s money--that started his reign of terror in Llanview. Now that his kid brother, Miles, is in town, could there be a way to tie Tina into a story?

The convoluted story of Todd, Evangeline, Cristian, and Blair could prove much more tricky if the other Llanview return happens. Remember Tea Delgado? Oh, I can see so many possibilities--many of them somewhat twisted!--for her return! According to Soaps in Depth, Florencia Lozano would be willing to reprise her role, if asked. At this point, she isn’t saying if she has been asked, and ABC is not commenting. If memory serves, Tea is a lawyer. Imagine the repercussions if Todd and Blair press charges against Cole for his relationship with Starr, and Marty hiring Tea to defend her son.

Soap Opera Digest reports one of the most surprising cast changes of all. Supposedly, Alexa Havins and Justin Bruening have contracts set to expire at the end of the summer. The magazine reports that both plan to not renew, and instead relocate to California. Pine Valley without Babe? One less Martin in town? Sure, Babe borders on annoying most of the time, and Jamie doesn’t get the airtime he deserves. But what will All My Children be like without either of them?

Please, stop by the forums to weigh-in on these rumors. How would you feel if any of these cast changes came about?
