Purchasing Perfect Roses

Rose gardeners love to either purchase cut roses from a florist as a treat for themselves or to receive them as a gift. Proper selection as well as finding that perfect florist shop can mean the difference between a bouquet that is amazing and one that is barely memorable. If you're selecting roses for someone special a bit of extra effort can really help you find the perfect bouquet.

Freshness is hands down the most important consideration to selecting a beautiful rose bouquet. If at all possible go into the florist shop personally. Don't just order over the phone. See what flowers the shop has available. The roses they are offering shouldn't be bruised, droopy, dried out or have any brown on the petals.

If your roses aren't fresh and they haven't been stored or handled correctly they will droop their heads once in a vase of water rather than open beautifully as you want them to do. Nothing is worse than a bouquet of beautiful roses whose flowers droop over sickly, never to fully open.

What many men and even women who are selecting a rose bouquet never consider, when making their purchase, is whether or not the roses have fragrance. All of the cut roses offered for sale are hybrid teas. Many of these roses have lost their fragrance when they were crossed to create a new color or bloom shape. Your bouquet will make a much more dramatic statement if it's fragrance fills the room rather than having no scent at all. Even if the roses themselves are visually beautiful they still can't compare to a rose with a strong fragrance.

Another important point to consider is that roses come in many colors other than red. So many men feel that only red roses will show their significant other how they truly feel. The problem is that while red roses are romantic they are also very common. My personal favorite is a mix of bright yellow, orange and pink. Your bouquet with seem more personal if you take the recipient's taste into account rather than just going with the standard choice.

If you really want to make an impression consider presenting your bouquet as a total surprise or if it's for a celebrated anniversary consider adding a small gift to make it extra special. For the avid rose gardener including a pair of the fancy new pruners they've been wanting is a nice touch or you could select a gorgeous new crystal or porcelain vase show off your flowers.

Don't forget whenever you find that perfect florist be sure to frequent their shop often. Regular patronage will ensure your florist takes great care of you. Not only can a florist place special orders, but they can also give you a call once their flowers arrive giving you the first pick.

Roses make a wonderful gift for a spouse, friend or parent. Rather than going with the traditional red bouquet make your gift extra special by selecting a bright orange or pink. When you present your gift or have it delivered their face will really shine with surprise and delight.
