If you are exploring the streets of San Diego, you may come across a hair salon with an interesting name. Jet Rhys Salon is named for its husband and wife founders. Jet and her husband Rhys worked in creative roles at Vidal Sassoon for many years when they decided to open their own salon. With over 40 years combined experience in the beauty and fashion business, the couple run a progressive salon where clients from teen years to their grandparents can count on individualized, up-to-date styling.

In a recent interview, Jet answered these questions for me.

What is your favorite part of the hair business?

"Changing people and watching them embrace shapes and colors they thought were not possible for them."

Where do you see style trends in the next year?

"Individuality is the key for selecting shape, style and color. However, it’s important to keep our clients modern and in tune with current fashion. I like hair that is both sleek and shiny and cut with subtle asymmetry. I think we will see a surge in extensions to add length and/or thickness."

What can you expect when visiting Jet Rhys?

"We believe customer service is paramount and we strive to create a professional, yet personable experience for our clients. Efficiency is very important for us. People lead busy lives and we don’t like to waste their time sitting in the salon unattended. Ergo, being on schedule is on of the golden rules of the salon."
