First up this week is the newest from Barbara Bretton, 
Chances Are (Berkley). Single mother Maddy Bainbridge is planning her wedding to Aidan O'Malley, single dad. Or, rather, is going along with what's being planned for them by their respective families, despite her own misgivings. Ms. Bretton is great at writing characters who seem to come from one's own life, or at least that a reader has encountered somewhere along the way, and this book is no exception. Before getting too far into the story, I felt as if I knew these people, and intimately. I just wish there were more romance in this one. Still, I'll be adding it to my Barbara Bretton section in the book room and hoping for more romance in the next one. I really did enjoy this one, romance or no, but I don't think I can give it more than three arrows.
Next is Susan Wilson's 
Summer Harbor (Pocket), also not really a romance, though there is a decent romantic element. Kiley Harris is finally going back to her family's summer home, for one last time. She hasn't been there in seventeen years, and is only going now because her parents are selling it to pay for her son's college tuition and asked her to inventory it. Her son Will has never known his father, and Kiley hasn't told him anything more than that it was the love of her life. Grainger Egan is one part of the trio Kiley was part of as a child, and he's still in Hawke's Cove. But is he the one? This is a touching story, full of tangled emotions, but it isn't just about Kiley and Grainger, or Kiley and the late Mack MacKenzie. This is a family story, and sometimes a wrenching one, one that'll make you wonder how you'd feel in the same situation. A very good book, if you're looking for a little change of pace.
Finally, we have Shirley Jump's 
The Bride Wore Chocolate (Zebra). Candace Woodrow is only a few weeks away from her wedding to the perfect man. But waking up in another man's bed after a wild night out, isn't in the plans. When Michael Vogler turns up at her business, her company's biggest new client, things get interesting. Temptation doesn't only come in the form of chocolate, but what's a girl to do when her life is all neatly mapped out? This is fun, and even includes some chocolate recipes to tempt you as you read. I'm giving this one three and a half arrows.
