Jessica Hall: The Interview, Part Two

Hello, and welcome back!

On to the rest of the interview!

B: Is there another subgenre of romance you'd like to dive into? Or
another genre altogether?

JH: I sold nine novels in 2004, so I am diving into a small ocean of new
subgenres and genres. "If Angels Burn" will be released in March 2005, under the name Lynn Viehl, and that is the first book in my new Darkyn vampire/paranormal romance series. (BELLA NOTE: If you'd like to see the cover art for this one, go here.) I've sold the seventh and eighth StarDoc series books, as well as continuing to write a popular Christian fiction series. Add to that three biblical historical novels I also sold this year, the first of which I just finished. I'm also writing my first fantasy novel, which has already attracted a lot of publisher interest, and will make the rounds next year.

If I can make a little room on the schedule next year, I may try a mystery
or a historical romance. Writing is always an adventure, and I don't believe
in genre limitations -- or writer's block, which helps.

B: Who are some of your favorite authors?

JH: Holly Lisle, Robyn Donald, Linda Howard, Mary Balogh, Catherine Coulter, Mark Kurlansky, Iris Johansen, Jean M. Auel, Nora Roberts, and Stuart Woods are my top ten, must-read authors.

B: So, there you have it. A little insight into the mind that comes up with these great stories. And speaking of great stories, her latest is an October release, Heat of the Moment
Heat of the Moment
(Onyx). Remember Detective Terri Vincent? This time is her story, hers and fire marshall Cort Gamble. Their past is as sultry as the New Orleans setting of the story, and let me just tell you, I'll never look at a motorcycle the same way again after reading this one. Terri's a strong, smart woman, and Cort is sexy as all get out. They're perfect for one another. Except for that pesky problem of the past. And the fact that Cort is a suspect in an ongoing investigation. I have loved Ms. Hall's books in the past and I love this one even more. I can hardly wait for the next one. Cupid's lent four and a half arrows for this one.

Until next time, happy reading!
