Quilt Blocks of the States - Florida

Florida - 12" Quilt Block

The next block in our State Quilt Block Series is Florida. This is the first paper-pieced block pattern in this series. It is created by paper-piecing four identical units, then sewing the units together.

Sewing Instructions:

Step 1: Print out four copies of the paper-piecing pattern. Print four copies of this pattern by clicking on the "Printer Friendly" circle at the bottom of this page. Your block should measure 6 1/2"(including the seam allowances).

Step 2: Following the numbers and fabric key printed on the pattern, paper-piece four identical units.

Step 3: Arrange the four paper-pieced units as shown below and sew them into rows, using a 1/4" seam allowance.

Step 4: Sew the rows together to finish the block.

Your block should measure 12-1/2" on all sides. It will measure 12" finished size when it is sewn into a quilt.
