Northern Lights

Hello, and welcome back! My October TBR pile is dwindling away to nothing, but I have quite a lot of November releases here already, and have read about half of them. I can't wait to share some of them with you all!

In the meantime, I have two October books this time out, including the latest Nora Roberts, Northern Lights
Northern Lights
(Putnam). Burned out Baltimore detective Nate Burke should fit in just right in the tiny town of Lunacy, Alaska where he's gone to be police chief. If he can make it through the winter and the horrid depression he's suffered with since his partner's death. But Lunacy's not as quiet as one might expect, and, besides finding a most amazing woman in the form of bush pilot Meg Galloway, plenty is happening in the dark winter, including murder. This is very definitely Nate's story, though we do get inside Meg's head as well, which is different for Ms. Roberts. In a good way. Nate is a hero you'll want to cheer for, and the suspense angle will keep you guessing nearly all the way to the end. A truly great read. I'm giving it four arrows.

The other book I have to share with you this time out is the second in Linda Francis Lee's "Sexy" trilogy, Sinfully Sexy
Sinfully Sexy
(Ballantine). This time, Chloe Sinclair gets her turn at love, starting with a very sexy encounter in a hotel bathroom with a stranger. A stranger who turns out to be the man coming to save the television station where she works. Or so she thinks. Sterling Prescott didn't plan on masquerading as Trey Tanner, but this case of mistaken identity might help him get closer to Chloe. Or not. This one starts of steamy, but honestly, the rest of it didn't live up to that first encounter for me. The story is cute and enjoyable, but I was a little disappointed with the steam factor. It's earned three and a half arrows. I have high hopes for the third member of the trio, Julia Boudreaux when her story comes out in November.

Until next time, happy reading!
