Romantic Suspense

Hello, and welcome back! It looks like the weatherman might finally have gotten a prediction right and the lunar eclipse will be visible for us here tonight! Yay! So, between that and the baseball game, I'll be reading, working my way through the next few November releases sitting here on my desk.

In the meantime, I have a few new ones to share with you this time out, starting with Holly Lisle's Midnight Rain
Midnight Rain
(Onyx). Phoebe Rain's life is turned upside down when her abusive ex-husband begins calling her. The only thing is, he should be in a coma and unable to make these phone calls. Between that and the ghost of her neighbor's daughter, things can only get more complicated. If you're looking for an involved suspense story with a hint of the paranormal tinging things, you'll want to pick this one up.

Next is Julia London's Miss Fortune
Miss Fortune
(Berkley). This time is Rachel Lear's turn to tell her story. Now that her father's decided she needs to get her head out of the clouds and into reality, Flynn Oliver suddenly appears in her life. I thought from reading her sisters' stories that I would like Rachel best, but I found I liked her least. And the conflict was a little too far-fetched for me. I think I'll stick with Ms. London's historicals from now on.

Finally, we have Maureen McKade's Arouse Suspicion
Arouse Suspicion
(Berkley). Danni Hawkins doesn't know what to believe when her father dies, but Nick Sirocco makes her see it had to be murder. But who would kill her police-officer father? And how far would they go to keep their secret? Well-written suspense, with plenty of witty banter between Danni and Nick, but not a keeper for me. I just didn't relate to Danni very well, but I'm sure some of you will feel differently.

Until next time, happy reading!
