Cogno Deep Worlds

Budding science whiz kids and adult trivia nuts will find common ground with Cogno Deep Worlds, the latest game in the popular Cogno game line. The game is for two or more players age 7 and up and is made by Doublestar Games.

The concept of the game is silly and fun: each player takes the part of an alien and tries to cross through an ocean on an alien land. The game board is a bit confusing at first (there are often several options of which way a player can go, and players are allowed to move both backwards and forwards), but it makes more sense once you've played the game for a few minutes. In order to make it back out of the alien ocean, the player must collect three fuel cells.

Players receive fuel cells by answering trivia questions about earth and space science (called Chaos questions). This is the most fun part of the game. On each Chaos card there are three levels of questions, and which question you must answer is determined by what number you just rolled on the dice. Some of the questions are super-easy, several are even "no wrong answer" questions, such as "If you met a space alien who had been everywhere in the universe and you could ask it just one question, what would your question be?" Others are more classic-styled trivia questions. The hardest level of questions can be extremely difficult and the answers can be somewhat confusing, but don't worry! The game comes with a very cool booklet that explains in-depth the answers to all of the questions.

The rules of the game are fairly complex and it will help to go over them a couple of times before attempting to play the game, but the diversity of all of the different rules and parts of the game board will surely keep kids interested. They'll want to play it over and over, and they'll learn while they do it. What more can you ask?
