Gift Shopping for Anglophiles

Where do Anglophiles go when they don't live in England and want to buy English goods? To the Internet, of course! Here are some suggestions for excellent English shopping.

Chocolate and Tea

For the chocoholic or tea lover on your shopping list, there are some great options available.

Thorntons ships chocolates worldwide (although sending them to warm climates isn't recommended).

Whittard of Chelsea ships their fine teas and coffees to over forty international destinations. Or try Twinings.

If all else fails, you can order English teas, cakes, biscuits, snacks, and gifts from English Tea Store, which is based out of the US, but ships worldwide.

For Women

Most ladies like pretty smelling things, and nice long soaks in a bubble bath. For those ladies, I recommend Lush. Lush sells fresh handmade cosmetics. They also offer a few items for men and for kids too. There are stores worldwide, but if you don't have one near you, visit http://www.lush.com/. This is my personal favorite!

Also try The Body Shop, or Crabtree & Evelyn. These English companies are also global, but if you can't find them at a mall near you, then shop online.

For Kids

Paddington Bear is an English classic, and kids love him every bit as much today as they did when he first made an appearance more than 40 years ago. Search Paddington Bear on amazon.com for books and merchandise. Search for the plush bear on sites such as eBay.

Beatrix Potter's tale of Peter Rabbit is also an enduring English classic. Again, search for Peter Rabbit on amazon.com for books and merchandise.

You can find Wallace & Gromitand Classic Winnie the Pooh there too.

For the Guys

If you have a man on your gift list who enjoys pipes, consider getting him an English pipe and tobacco as a gift. You can start your search at Smokingpipes.com and if those don't suit you, a simple web search will bring up other sites where you can purchase one.

If alcoholic beverages are more his thing, look for English beers at stores like Cost Plus World Market or check liquor stores.

For Everyone

You can buy many things at Harrods Department Store to be shipped to you.

English collectibles like Lilliput Lane and Cherished Teddies are widely available in shops outside the UK.

England's finest china, Wedgwood, has international stores as well as online shopping.

Of course, these are only a few of the widely available items you can buy for the Anglophile in your life (or for yourself). Happy shopping!
