Quick Sips features brief reviews of wines. There will be no theme except good wine.
- Domaine Crochet Sancerre Blanc
This white is made with Sauvignon Blanc grapes, from the Loire Valley of France. This is a spicy wine with an elegant, full body. The acidity is well balanced. The flavors are crisp and dry, with the tang of lemons. It is a pale straw color, with tinges of green. A great wine to serve with heavier fish or fowl dishes. It will hold it's own with goose.
Rodney Strong 2002 Chalk Hill Chardonnay
Clean and light, this is a refreshing Chardonnay. It has a medium body and fresh, jucy flavors. This is almost like having the perfect fruit salad, without the overly sweet marshmallows. You taste flavors of green apples, pineapple, with a hint of peach and spice. Perfect as an aperitif with cheese, or with Fettucine al Limone.- Turnbull Cabernet Sauvignon
Just when you thought you couldn't drink another bad Cab...You have this great red from Napa Valley. It's not overdone, but has subtle layers of flavor. There are wonderful ripe flavors of cassis, with an elegant spiciness that stays through the finish. This wine calls for steak with a blue cheese sauce.
