I get a lot of questions on new car detailing, so I must address this issue for all of my readers. First of all, congratulations on the new ride! I know that any new car owner is indeed proud of their newest acquirement and want to keep it looking new. Honestly, new car owners are the ones who have it the easiest. Today's paints and clear coats are top of the line and will need at least, minimal maintenance. They are now engineered with tougher materials and synthetics to deter UV rays and corrosives which in turn produces a longer lasting color and gloss--it is still recommended that the best finish (paint and clear coat) be protected best by keeping your vehicle in a garage or car port.

First of all, you may wax your new car ANYTIME once you drive it off the lot! Most vehicles finishes have been completed long before the new owner takes actual possession. The average new car is produced sometimes a few months before it hits the showroom! So you can rest assure your paint is already waiting to be waxed and polished. I ALWAYS suggest, however; that you get advice from the dealership and/or manufacturer for details on your new vehicle's finish. Some of them offer a multi-year protection which is your basic wax or glaze job. I assure you that this is not free, so please consider that. If you are like me, you'll want to do your own detailing to ensure proper care and maintenance--get to know your vehicle.

The product(s) and implement(s) you use is strictly up to you! I have tried many products along the way and I found what works for me is Meguiar's. You will have to find your own products that will work for you too--remember, if it costs alot, it's not always the best. I have found Meguiar's, Turtle Wax and Dri Wash 'N Guard to be the one's that really impress me with results--and reasonable prices. You be your own judge and try these products on your own. I do, however, recommend Meguiar's Quik Wax to start with as a first wax implement.

For plastics, vinyl, leather, metals etc., please choose carefully. Go to the producer's of the particular product's website for information. I have found reading labels and asking the good people at Auto Zone to be very helpful.
