Quick Sips features brief reviews of wines. There is no theme except good wine.
- The Wishing Tree Shiraz 2003
A dark ruby red wine that is a steal at $10. It has luscious, dark, ripe fruit flavors, but with a spicy flavor that gives layers of flavor. It is full, rich and chewy. You would normally pay a great deal more for this quality. - Fairview Pinotage
This wine has a garnet color is full-bodied, fragrant, and fruity. Its sweetness is balanced by a hint of wood and light tannins. There are aromas of spices and ripe, dark fruits. This is echoed in the ripe fruit and spicy finish. The wine is friendly and pairs well with chevre cheese served with fig preserves. - C.K. Mondavi 2002 Willow Springs Chardonnay
I picked up a 1.5 ltr bottle for $10 at my local Publix. I thought what the heck, it wouldn't be a big loss if it wasn't drinkable. It it not the best Mondavi available, but for the price it was good. This is an excellent choice for gathering friends around the kitchen on a Friday night. The wine is dry and easy to drink. The sweet wine drinkers enjoyed it and the dry wine drinkers enjoyed it. It went well with the orchiette with pesto.
