Luke Cage - Season 2 Teaser

As we approach the upcoming release of season 2 of Marvel's Luke Cage on Netflix, here is a quick recap of season 1. Season 2 of the Luke Cage comes after an exciting ending of both season 1 of Luke Cage and the Defenders. Luke continues to struggle between living a "normal" life and fighting bad guys as Harlem's native super hero.

At the end of season 1, after Luke and Stryker finished fighting, Luke was taken into custody by US Marshals because of his past escape from the Seagate facility. When he's being led away, Claire promises to call a good lawyer to help clear Luke's name.

One main lingering concern from Season 1 of the Defenders was what was going to happen to super cop, Misty Knight. During the season finale, Misty's arm was cut off. The assumption at the end of the show is that Misty will be getting a replacement courtesy of the Iron Fist. We see in the trailer for season 2 of Luke Cage, that Misty is back with a new (and certainly improved) metal arm. The trailer also shows Misty, with her new arm, thinking that she is now Harlem's protector and Luke is just her sidekick. Their new interaction and relationship will certainly keep evolving.

The trailer also shows the return of past villain, Mariah Dillard, as well as "Shades" and "Diamondback". A new (and apparently very strong) villain (Bushmaster) is also in the works. The trailer shows Luke basically getting beat down by Bushmaster and people around the world cringing at the site. Since the villain is able to handle Luke so well, it's clear that there is some supernatural phenomenon going on with his power.

Rumor is that nurse Claire will also return although this may be her last appearance in the Marvel world. Her and Luke maintained somewhat of a romantic relationship last season so it will be interesting to see if that continues during season 2. There should also be a few scenes with the Iron Fist (Danny Rand) and Luke Cage working together as they have a tight bond in the comic book world.

Season 2 of Luke Cage drops on on 6/22/18. You can watch all 13 episodes back to back if you currently subscribe to Netflix.
