First up this time out is Lynn Erickson's
Husband and Lover (Berkley). Julia Innes is shocked when her husband is arrested for the murder of his first wife, and so is former detective Cameron Lazlo, who heads back to Aspen to find out what's happening and ends up working with the defense team, which puts him in close contact with Julia. This makes for good reading, if you're looking for a suspense or court procedural, but not so much as a romance. There's plenty of detail on the proceedings leading up to and during the trial, but if I want that, I can turn on Law & Order any night of the week. This one isn't a keeper for me, I'm sorry to say.
Next is Jill Shalvis's
Blue Flame (Onyx), her next wounded firefighter. Jake Rawlins can't work, and now the family of the kid he rescued is suing him, so it's time to get out of town. At the ranch his father left him, Callie Hayes has things under control. Sort of. But Jake's return turns her world upside down; the only trouble is, he isn't there to stay. This one was a fun way to pass a few hours, but it didn't grab me enough to be a keeper either.
Until next time, happy reading!
