Hello, and welcome back! Winter is here now for sure, with the wind howling around the house and, even with the sun shining brightly, the temperature's only around twenty degrees. Good thing I stocked up on tea last week, to go with all my reading material.

First up this week is Cassie Edwards's
Proud Eagle (Signet). Billie Shaughnessy's father left her land that Makah chief Proud Eagle believes should still belong to his people. The timber baron's daughter and the tribal chief should have little in common, but you just know they'll find something, right? Something I realized as I read this one is that many of Ms. Edwards's stories resolve the romance early on in the book and then the hero and heroine have to resolve a struggle against an outside force trying to keep them apart. Perhaps that's why I haven't yet found one of hers I liked enough to keep. I prefer to be kept wondering until the end how they can possibly be together.

Next is Linda Winstead Jones's
The Sun Witch (Berkley). Sophie Fyne's sisters know their powers and have honed their skills. Sophie hasn't discovered hers yet, but when she meets the wounded stranger, she begins to get an inkling of what she might achieve. Not to mention her daughter. Kane Varden doesn't realize his time with Sophie wasn't just a hallucination until he returns and finds her with his daughter a year later. And now he wants more. This one is fun, with just the right amount of fantasy woven into the story. I'm looking foward to seeing sister Juliet's story in the spring. This one gets three and a half arrows.
