Dreams & Lullabies Theme Baby Shower

There is nothing sweeter than the angelic, peaceful face of a sleeping baby. From the flutter of their tiny eyelashes to the subtle movements of their lips, a newborn lost in slumber is a beautiful sight. A “Dreams & Lullabies” theme baby shower is a lovely way to help expectant parents celebrate the imminent arrival of their new bundle of joy.

Since the theme of this baby shower is “Dreams and Lullabies”, consider hosting this party in the evening rather than in the afternoon. That way you can dim the lights and place baby powder scented candles around the room. This will help create a cozy, nighttime mood for all of your festivities. You could even go one step further and ask your guests to wear their pyjamas, robes or slippers to the shower.

Decorating for this theme baby shower is a snap. Use soft, delicate touches around the room to add to the “dreamy” atmosphere of the shower. Cuddly teddy bears propped up on the sofa, vases of baby’s breath on the tables, and pastel table linens. Place oversized, stuffed pillows on the floor to add some extra seating or to encourage guests to curl up and get comfortable. Don’t forget the music for the evening - quiet lullabies, of course!

If the baby is a girl, add lots of pink to the room. Tie pink ribbons around champagne flutes filled with a rose wine or pink punch. Add sweetheart roses or pink carnations to the floral centerpieces and drape pink tulle or gossamer over tables and around windows.

For a new baby boy, use blue accents around the room. Try blue striped or gingham patterned fabrics to cover tables or to drape around windows. Stack blue wooden building blocks in the center of the table as a centerpiece. Or display a beautiful gift basket filled with baby goodies and tied with an oversized blue ribbon.

Of course, a dreamy dessert is in order for this “Dreams & Lullabies” theme baby shower. The easiest to make and serve is cupcakes. Bake a couple batches of white cupcakes, wrapped in pastel papers, and iced with lots of white, fluffy, cloud-like frosting. Serve them on a multi-tiered cake stand and use it as your table centerpiece.

On your invitations, be sure to let guests know that the idea of this baby shower theme is to encourage restful sleep for both the new baby and the new parents. This gives them lots of time to think of some great gifts to help Mommy, Daddy and baby get some sleep! Here are a few ideas:
